New year, not a new you! | New Year’s Resolutions
New Year’s resolutions are heavily based on lofty goals that are difficult to achieve and can leave you feeling ashamed if you haven’t reached them. According to U.S. News & World Report, the failure rate for New Year’s resolutions is said to be about 80 percent, and most lose their resolve by mid-February. This year we want to suggest resolutions that we feel are positive attainable habits that will overall improve your mind and body.
Personal growth:
As New Year’s resolutions move away from unattainable and possible unhealthy goals we encourage you to invest in your personal growth. This can be achieved in many ways, one we are getting into is journaling or writing a diary. Taking the time to write down how you feel, what you’ve done and track your goals and achievements can greatly help with stress management, improve memory and communication skills as well as gain self-confidence. Keeping a journal or diary can be a very vulnerable and emotional task depending on what you decide to write in it and sometimes you may want an extra layer of security to ensure no one can get their hands on it. When you were younger this security measure might have been a cheap padlock your dairy came with but those are outdated, flimsy and don’t offer that much security. We suggest locking away your journal in our Lockabox One™, this will allow you to easily get a hold of your journal while making sure no one else can. You can also use it to store other personal valuables you might not want others having.
Reducing screen time:
Codecomputerlove found that the average time spent looking at our screens were 3 hours and 23 minutes a day. It might not seem like a lot but that’s roughly 51 days spent on our phones. Excessive screen time was proven to disrupt sleep cycles due to the blue light emitted from screens, which has been shown to reduce or delay the natural production of melatonin in the evening and decrease feelings of sleepiness. Disrupted and lack of sleep can cause many short-term problems such as impaired memory, mood swings and a general decrease in quality of life. This is where our Lockabox One™comes in, it’s the perfect way to lock up your phone at night to help you wind down and decrease distractions in the evening. Locking away your phone means you have time to do other new year’s resolutions you might have like reading more books or trying a new hobby.
Reducing smoking:
We all know the harmful impact smoking has on ourselves and those around us but managing addiction is not a straightforward or easy task. We believe that our Lockabox One™ can help aid reduce smoking by allowing you to keep cigarettes locked away but still giving you the opportunity to manage your addiction the way you see fit.
We think these resolutions are all attainable using Lockabox® to focus on the health and growth of your mind and body. New Years Resolutions should motivate you, not shame you for the current person you are.
