How do I set my code?
Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™
It’s super-easy to set the code on the Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™. Just follow these few simple steps:
- The default code for a new box is 000.
- Open the door and slide the metal tab on the backside of the lock from position A to B.
- Turn the dials to choose your new code.
- Once you’re happy, slide the metal tab from B to A.
- You’ve successfully changed your code!
Lockabox Mini Plus™
Setting a new code for the Lockabox Mini Plus™ takes less than 30 seconds, just follow these steps:
- The default code for all new boxes is ‘000’.
- Turn the knob 90 degrees clockwise to the ‘Open Position’ - the small white arrow is pointing towards the green padlock.
- Take out your access key and store it somewhere safe - you DO NOT need your ‘access key’ to use your box or set the code; the ‘access key’ is ONLY there if you need to find a forgotten/lost code.
- With your box still in the ‘Open Position’, close the door and turn the dials to choose your new code, ensuring the numbers are fully aligned.
- Taking care not to accidentally nudge the dials, turn the knob 90 degrees anticlockwise to the ‘Closed Position’ - the small white arrow is now pointing towards the red padlock.
- Scramble the dials. Your Lockabox Mini Plus™ is now locked!
It’s important to note that whenever the lock is in the ‘Open Position’, a new code can be set, so be careful not to nudge or move the dials as you might accidentally change the code.

I’ve forgotten my code - how do I get into my box?
Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™
As the Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™ are secure products, any ‘quick fix’ would make them less effective so there is no ‘master code’ or reset function.
If the code has been lost or forgotten, the only way to open your box is to work through all the possible combinations from 000-999, ensuring you attempt the handle after each try. It may sound daunting but this process takes roughly 15 minutes (often less).
Once you have then found the code, you can reset it using the A/B tab on the inside of the door.
If you are still having trouble accessing your box, then please contact us at info@lockabox.com. Let us know what the issue is with your box and we’ll do our very best to help you.
Lockabox Mini Plus™
In order to open your Lockabox Mini Plus™ if you have forgotten your code, you will need your access key.
- Start by inserting your access key into the lock and turning it 180 degrees clockwise. Please note that the lock barrel will not move and this action will not open the door.
- With the access key still in the lock, scroll the dials one at a time until they click and no longer move - You have successfully retrieved your forgotten code.
- Now turn your access key 180 degrees anticlockwise and remove it from the lock.
- Remember to store your access key somewhere safe.
- Turn the knob 90 degrees clockwise.
- Your Lockabox Mini Plus™ is now open.
It’s important to note that whenever the lock is in the ‘Open Position’, a new code can be set, so be careful not to nudge or move the dials as you might accidentally change the code.
My lock isn’t working - how do I open my box?
Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™
Firstly, don’t panic, we can help! Try these steps:
- Are the dials on the three-digit combination lock lined up correctly?
If they are nudged slightly and not completely aligned, it won’t allow the box to open. Sounds simple, but lots of us get caught out by it! - Is your box new?
If you have never set your code, the default code for a new box is ‘000’. This will need to be entered on the box, to allow you to open your box and change the code for the first time. - Have you changed the code recently?
If the digits weren’t lined up exactly when setting the code, then this may cause the lock to malfunction and prevent you from opening the box. - Are you entering the correct code?
As Lockabox is a secure product, any ‘quick fix’ would make it less effective, so unfortunately if you don’t know your code there’s only one way to reset it. You’ll need to cycle through all possible combinations from 000-999, attempting the handle after each try. This may seem daunting but the process takes roughly 15 minutes (often less).
If you’re still struggling to access the contents of your box, please contact us at info@lockabox.com, making sure you include your name and order number and we’ll do our best to assist you.

How can I move the A/B tab on the back of my lock?
Lockabox One™ and Lockabox Mini™
To move the A/B tab on the back of the lock, ensure the code on the front is correct and gently move the metal tab in an across-upwards motion from A to B.
If the tab is stuck in position A, then the code you're trying could be incorrect. Perhaps someone else changed it, or it was inadvertently changed when resetting the code? Sometimes this happens if the tab isn’t fully engaged in position.
Unfortunately if this is the case, there's only one way to find the code. You'll need to cycle through all combinations from 000-999, ensuring you attempt the handle after each try. It may seem daunting but this process takes roughly 15 minutes (often less).
If you're positive the combination is correct, then it may be that the tab is stiff. This usually only happens when the product is new. In these instances, we recommend using something thin and flat (like a coin) to lever the tab into position. Doing this once should alleviate the problem and your tab should move freely from now on!
